The following are support groups and counselors who specialize in helping families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or a baby at any time. If you know of other groups or counselors that should be added to this list, please contact Amy Carr.

Central Texas-based Support Groups

Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope

Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope has created Face2Face Friendship Groups as a means of getting women together, face-to-face, who have experienced a loss of a child, whether it was by miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. They meet every other Sunday in the greater Austin area at various locations such as coffee houses, restaurants and parks. Their goal is to encourage long-lasting friendships, and to provide a place for safe and open grief sharing in a supportive environment. Please RSVP by emailing the Group Leader, Annette Benavides.

For the Love of Christi

A non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides free grief support for anyone who has lost a loved one regardless of circumstances. Library is available. Meetings each Monday from 7:00–9:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Hospice Austin

Hospice Austin offers Families in Grief, a 6-week bereavement counseling program, to assist grieving families with children ages 6-18.  The program is open to anyone in the community. The meetings are held at Hospice Austin’s offices at 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd, Austin, 78759. The kids will be grouped with others near their age who have experienced similar losses; they  will be encouraged to express their feelings through discussion, art, storytelling, and play. Their caregivers will meet separately to learn how to nurture themselves and their children through the grief process.

Other eight-week support groups for adults are available including loss of a spouse/partner, loss of a parent, loss of a sibling, loss of an adult child and a sudden loss.

My Healing Place

My Healing Place is a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to assist children and adults as they move from loss to life through support, therapy, education, training and consultation throughout the greater Austin area. They offer individual counseling, play therapy, support groups and retreats to serve all individuals who are in need of grief, loss, and trauma-related services, regardless of ability to pay.

Christian-based 13-week support group, which is always open to new members and the community at-large. Services are offered free of charge. Simply call for information about dates and meeting times.

St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center - Pregnancy and Infant Loss Groups

RMHC Charities of Austin and Central Texas ensures that families who have lost children due to illness or injury are not left without resources. Their Healing Hearts program provides burial assistance funds and bereavement support groups to families throughout the Austin area.

Center for Loss in Multiple Birth Support

Non-profit organization based in Anchorage, Alaska, serving families and others throughout the United States, Canada and beyond. Their mission is to provide parent-to-parent support for those who have experienced the death of one or more of our twins or higher multiple birth children at any time from conception through birth, infancy and early childhood.

St. Charles, Missouri-based nonprofit with chapters around the U.S. whose mission is to serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life. Its website lists the location of chapters with support groups, has a message board for parents, in addition to other resources.

A site with a number of forums including loss support.

Inspire – Preemie Group

This site has very active online support forums for parents of preemies from birth and beyond. Although it’s not specifically geared to bereavement, a good number of posts appear on the site regularly.
