Neonatal Hemodynamics Specialist
University of Iowa, Stead Childrens Hospital
In this episode:
- Describe two differences between a TNE (Targeted Neonatal Echo) performed by NICU staff and a Cardiac Ultrasound performed by an Echo Tech
- Explain at least one way that hemodynamic measurements obtained during a TNE might change the clinical management of a baby in the NICU
- List two or more treatment options for a PDA

About Dr. Adrianne Rahde Bischoff
Adrianne Rahde Bischoff is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics and neonatal hemodynamics specialist at the University of Iowa. Adrianne did most of her medical training in her hometown in south Brazil before heading to Toronto for her Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship and finally to Iowa to be the first Neonatal Hemodynamics Fellow in the Country. Her research interests relate to the use of targeted neonatal echocardiography, cardiovascular physiology and percutaneous ductus arteriosus closure. She is a member of the PanAmerican Hemodynamics Collaborative (PAHC), an academic consortium of neonatologists with hemodynamic expertise, which promotes educational initiatives in the field of neonatal hemodynamics/TnECHO and cultivates multicenter clinical research, and a council member of the Midwest Society for Pediatric Research (MWSPR). Adrianne’s academic focus revolves around the intricacies of cardiovascular physiology, where her expertise shines particularly in the aftermath of definitive PDA closure. She delves deeply into neonatal hemodynamics, unraveling complexities and implications within various disease states, significantly impacting morbidity among the vulnerable population of preterm and critically ill neonates.
