About Dr. Rina Sanghavi

Dr. Rina Sanghavi, hand to hold NICU heroes podcast, gastroenterology, preemie microbiomeDr. Rina Sanghavi is a Professor of Pediatrics at U.T Southwestern Medical Center/Children’s Health, Children’s Medical Center Dallas where she is the Director of Pediatric Neurogastroenterology. She helped establish the Aerodigestive clinic, the chronic abdominal pain program, motility and biofeedback program as well as the colorectal center at her institution. She holds several administrative and leadership positions including President of the Medical Dental Staff, Chair of the UTSW Faculty Compensation Committee, chair of the Pediatric Business strategy group. She is also chair of the Women in Medicine Committee for NASPGHAN. Through my work here, I have pioneered a national junior faculty conference for professional development of pediatric gastroenterologists, mentorship as well as recognition programs for women. She was awarded the “Scrubs and Heels breaking the glass ceiling award” for her work on advancing women in GI. She is an advocate for women leaders in medicine, equity and empathic leadership and she is passionate about marrying the business aspect of a medical practice with efficiency and promoting wellness within clinicians, especially in an academic environment. She has published extensively on gender equity in medicine and has been invited for lectures and talks on gender equity and leadership nationally and internationally. In addition, she has also been recognized with several awards, including the Clinical Excellence Award at UT Southwestern.
