Our NICU Journey Was Paved with Heroes
I met many heroes during my son’s NICU stay. From our fearless neonatologist who never gave up on my micro-preemie despite significant challenges, to respiratory therapists who helped my baby defy the odds. There were lactation consultants with unending patience, and social workers who moved mountains. Our NICU nurses were each heroes in their own right – from helping me learn to change the diaper of my one pound miracle to reminding my husband to focus on our baby rather than the monitors.
These tireless neonatal professionals are dedicated to ensuring best outcomes for all the babies and families in their care and nothing brings them more joy than to see one of their NICU graduates taking their first steps, enjoying an ice cream cone or graduating from kindergarten!
Honor Your NICU Healthcare Hero
Despite their desire to stay out of the lime light, Hand to Hold and Mead Johnson Nutrition are proud to announce the first annual NICU Heroes Award. We invite NICU parents from across the country to nominate the neonatal professionals who touched their lives through simple acts of kindness, compassion and amazing medical care.
These NICU heroes understand that in order for NICU babies to thrive, they must have smart, informed parents capable of meeting their child’s needs after discharge. They reach beyond their job description to provide comfort, understanding, words of encouragement and hugs just when we need them the most.
Nominate Today
Nominate your NICU Heroes today. Visit www.handtohold.org/hero for more details. Nominations are due by May 27, 2013 and the winner will be announced on July 22, 2013. The NICU Heroes Award winner will receive a trophy, special recognition ceremony, $2,500 donation made in their name to the pediatric healthcare charity of their choice, and a one-year subscription to Hand to Hold’s NICU Resource Library for their hospital. All contestants will receive a certificate of recognition.
There is no way to truly thank these amazing individuals for the difference they have made in the lives of countless children who have passed through their NICUs, but we hope the NICU Heroes Award will serve as a small token of appreciation to those that give all they have to ensure happy endings for the families in their care.
