Are You a Runner?
If you enjoy running, getting fit and connecting with a cause close to your heart, we invite you to join Hand to Hold’s Team Preemie Posse. Hand to Hold has been named a featured charity as part of the upcoming LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon®’s 26 Miles for 26 Charities Philanthropy program. This spotlight helps Hand to Hold reach more families in need of support, raise awareness of challenges families face after preterm birth or a NICU stay, and allows us to connect with our Austin community!
Run on Our Team
We’re recruiting runners and walkers for Team Preemie Posse to participate in the Austin Marathon February 17, 2013, to show support for families with preemies and raise funds to support the mission of Hand to Hold. There is no fundraising minimum but we ask runners on our team to set a goal of $500. Runners will receive both an official marathon shirt and a Team Preemie Posse shirt, easy-to-use fundraising tools to create your own fundraising page, plus the satisfaction of making a difference for families in Austin and around the country.
Other Ways to Help
So, you run plenty you say, just not competitively or between bottles and diaper changes? We’re also looking for volunteers (teenagers through adult) to help us set up our waterstop along the race course. We need 100 volunteers willing to help us trick out our waterstop to share Hand to Hold’s mission and cheer on the runners along the way. Volunteers will also receive t-shirts. Sign up now.
You can also donate to our Preemie Posse Team or donate to a specific runner who has set up a fundraising page to support the cause.
Our children began their marathon in the NICU, accomplishing so many things — learning to feed, keeping a stable temperature, breathing and more — that others take for granted. We invite you to join Team Preemie Posse to help us create more awareness of the challenges our families have and still face, plus expand our services to support more families across the country. Please tell a family member or a friend about Preemie Posse, and we hope to see some of you on race day.
